Northern Wake Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Blake Wright has accepted an appointment to serve as the next Fire Chief of the Northern Wake Fire Department, effective July 18, 2026.
Chief Wright brings more than two decades of public safety and firefighting experience to this leadership role. Chief Wright’s experience includes multiple positions in the fire service, including Firefighter with Antioch Volunteer Fire Department, Fire Lieutenant with Watkins Volunteer Fire Department, Firefighter for the City of Henderson Fire Department, Fire Captain with Stony Hill Rural Fire Department and Northern Wake Fire Department, Battalion Chief, Interim Fire Chief, and most recently Assistant Fire Chief with Northern Wake Fire Department.
His background includes an Associate in Applied Science in Fire Protection Technology from Coastal Carolina Community College, a Bachelors in Fire and Emergency Services Administration from Fayetteville State University, as well as the John Bowen Academic Excellence Award, professional development through the National Fire Academy and emergency management training. Chief Wright has certifications and training in fire protection technology, incident command, emergency medical services, and fire and rescue management, including a Fire & Rescue Management Institute Certificate from UNC Charlotte School of Professional Studies.
